Books for Children Age 8

Books for 8 Year Old Children

By the time they are 8 years old, children will be reading themselves, albeit at all different levels. Some will still be keen to see illustrations on a page to add visual interest and to help them make sense of the story. Others will be reading ahead of their age and be into quite thick chapter books. Many 8 year olds will still enjoy reading a picture book, especially one with more complex themes or details to pore over.

Let them help you choose what to read next. Books about things that they are into are always a hit.
