Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge


In Australia the State Premier's challenge kids to read as many titles in a list of books deemed age appropriate during the course of the year. Many schools participate in this great initiative designed to get kids reading. In 2018 The Victorian Premier's Reading challenge is open to early learning and pre-school children as well as school age children, you can register your child to particpiate here:

For pre-school age kids they are encouraged to read (or be read aloud to) 40 books during the course of the year.

Kids reading independently are encouraged to read a minimum of 15 books during the challenge. 

The book list for early childhood and Prep to Year 2 was created in consultation with experienced teacher-librarians and experts in children’s literature.

There is a separate list appropriate for kids in Grade 3 and 4.
